JOB TITLE: ASC Endoscopy Technician

SUPERVISOR: Director of Surgical Services

HOURS PER WEEK: Variable/Non-Exempt

DEPARTMENT: Day Surgery

HIRING BONUS: $500 after 90 days

The following information is designed to outline the essential functions and position requirements of this job. It does not identify all tasks that may be expected, nor address the performance standards that must be maintained.

Seeking experienced admit / PACU RN for busy multispecialty ambulatory surgery center.

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Responsible for assisting as an endoscopy tech. Also responsible for assisting decontamination of scopes, room turnover.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Respond appropriately to emergency codes. *
2.Assist with endoscopy procedures as requested by the physician or registered nurse. *
3.Work with GI physicians in professional and courteous manner. *
4.Provide support to Anesthesia department in preparation for daily cases. Check carts, outdates, assure supply levels, plug in equipment. *
5.Set-up, assist and clean-up of rooms and equipment for endoscopy service. Take appropriate precautions when assisting. *
6.Follow appropriate methods, IFUs and policy for cleaning and disinfection of endoscopes.
7.Help to turnover rooms in timely fashion.
8.Restock and clean designated areas. *
9.Uses appropriate use of PPE for patient care and other settings where required. *
10.Be an active participant in committees (i.e. Safety Committee, Infection Control). *
11.Participate in orienting new staff. *
12.Attend staff meetings and trainings. *
13.Understand hazard risk and demonstrate complete understating of established emergency procedures for the Surgery Center. *
14.Reports incidences or issues through chain of command and maintains confidentiality. Complete all employee/patient incident documentation in a thorough and timely manner.*
15.Assist/floats to other departments as needed.
16.Employees will not be discourteous or disrespectful to a customer or any member of the public while in the course and scope of company business.*
17.Work in a cooperative manner with management/supervision, coworkers, patients and vendors.*
18.Abide by company policies. *
19.Other duties as assigned.
20.Maintain regular, in person, work attendance and punctuality, as scheduled.*

REQUIREMENTS:
High School diploma or equivalent
One (1) year of experience in similar role
Current CPR certification

EDUCATION/LICENSES PREFERRED:
Medical Assistant Certification, Certified Nursing Assistant

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:
Basic understanding of Medical Terminology
Basic understanding of infection control
Organizational skills and ability to prioritize work flow
Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations and to work under pressure
Proficiency and legalities of charting and telephone conversations
Compassionate, patient and tactful
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients and staff
Proactive, independent, and accountable
