What are GI doctors?

GI doctors, also known as gastroenterologists, are physicians who specialize in diagnosing and treating conditions related to the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, which includes the esophagus, stomach, intestines, liver, pancreas, and gallbladder. They manage a wide range of issues such as acid reflux, ulcers, irritable bowel syndrome, hepatitis, and colon cancer screening. After medical school, GI doctors complete additional years of specialized training in internal medicine and gastroenterology.
