Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Custodian (Gessner)
Department: Workforce Development (WFD)
Reports to: Sr. Manager of Gessner
Pay Rate: $15 Hourly
FLSA Status: Part Time (non-exempt)

Position Summary:
Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the assigned facility and the grounds. Work is evaluated through observation and by inspection of completed assignments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Day-to-day cleaning of the assigned facility: sweeping, mopping, cleaning restrooms, emptying trash, cleaning furniture, filling dispensers, cleaning water fountains, checking and cleaning equipment.
  • General building maintenance.
  • General floor maintenance: sweep, wet/dry mop, vacuum, wax, buff, etc.
  • Operates cleaning equipment.
  • Operates assigned equipment in a safe manner in accordance with organizational and safety policies and procedures.
  • Outdoor maintenance: pick up debris, clear sidewalks, etc.
  • Use safe work procedures and personal protective equipment as required (i.e., lifting, use of proper equipment, etc.) and reports incidents and injuries immediately to a supervisor.
  • Report equipment, machinery, and other GWH property repairs and/or maintenance to a manager in a timely manner.
  • Follows all GWH Guiding Principles and Core Values.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Management.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Some janitorial or custodial experience is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must have punctual and dependable attendance.
  • Free from alcohol and drugs.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
The ability to continuously stand/walk for the duration of a shift, frequently push/pull, occasionally bend/stoop/crawl/kneel/reach above shoulders, and climb a ladder. Able to lift, up to, 40 lbs. (fixture parts, cartons of product).
An indoor work environment with exposure to outside temperatures. The noise level in the normal work environments is usually moderate.
