Note to applicants:
Interns in the Apprenticeship Networks department of our organization will work out of the GACC Midwest office in Chicago. As such, applicants must either currently reside in the Greater Chicago Area or be available for relocation before the start date of the internship.
Compensation: $3000/month
Duration: 9-12 months, Full-time
Who we are
The mission of the German American Chamber of Commerce of the Midwest (GACC Midwest) is to promote and assist in the expansion of bilateral trade and investment between Germany and the United States. All internships offer the opportunity to gain work experience in a truly bilingual and bicultural environment, with support from colleagues that can help speed the learning curve of understanding intercultural differences and nuances. Our Apprenticeship Networks Department supports our member companies and other industry associations, educational institutions and government agencies to cover the demand for highly skilled workforce in various industry sectors. To this end, we help with the creation of new programs based on the German dual education system and assist them with the management of existing programs. What does this internship entail?
Applicant Outreach & Admin
  • Communicate with apprenticeship applicants via email and phone to give overview of ICATT Apprenticeship Program, discuss open opportunities, and answer specific questions
  • Support with applicant outreach strategies and communication with high schools, counselors, parents etc.
  • Maintain updated database of applicants based on region and college
  • Create and manage Indeed ads and update website based on company hiring needs and progress
  • Assist with promoting ICATT at job fairs and other relevant events.
  • Assist in outreach events and presentations with partners (virtual and in-person) to inform potential applicants about the program and generate interest

Strategic Relationship Management Through Event Coordination & Marketing Activities
  • Support event coordination, including marketing aspects, for webinars, study trips, and graduations.
  • Assist in social media marketing (Newsletters, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram posting).
  • Utilize various graphic design tool, such as InDesign, Canva and other Photoshop Programs, for marketing materials and examination-related tasks requiring image editing

Additional Duties
  • Support with backend management for invoice and client communication
  • Maintaining the customer database (Netsuite)
  • Taking minutes at meetings
  • Researching workforce development-related topics
  • Providing support for inquiries from companies regarding apprenticeships and training

Who are we looking for?
  • Basic understanding of the German education system in general and especially the German apprenticeship system as well as an interest in the US education system
  • Proficiency in English is essential, German language skills preferred
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Attention to detail is extremely important
  • Experience with various social media platforms such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, and others, with the ability to create engaging content and manage outreach campaigns effectively
  • Experience or knowledge in the field of manufacturing is an advantage
