Are you ready to take your career to another level? Blackburn Consulting is seeking a full-time Sr. Engineer to complete moderate to complex engineering and geology projects. Senior Engineers at Blackburn Consulting work under the direction of the Sausalito Office Manager and senior firm leadership. This candidate should have 6-8 years of experience in a project-based, geotechnical engineering related field. This position requires travel (<20%) to project related sites, project coordination, and report writing.

Blackburn Consulting provides geotechnical, geo-civil, geo-environmental, construction, forensics and lab engineering services throughout California with offices in Auburn, West Sacramento, Fresno, Escondido, and Sausalito. We have an extensive geotechnical and materials testing lab in West Sacramento, CA, and labs in Escondido and Sausalito. We focus mostly on public works including flood control and transportation. Blackburn has been in business since 1998, and is employee owned and operated.


Technical Duties:


· Working on moderate to complex projects requiring independent study and responsible judgment

· Complete project tasks while following deadlines and budgets with minimal instruction

· Directing staff level engineers/geologists to coordinate field work and data assembly

· Overseeing construction projects and providing direction in the field

· Overseeing field technicians and reviewing field reports

· Prepare work and safety plans and job safety analyses

· Work with clients comfortably

· Historical and analytical project research

· Data gathering, organization, analysis, and results evaluation

· Conducting and writing geotechnical reports and other written communication

· Knowledge of industry standards


Essential Duties:


· Communication with clients, team members, and contractors

· Understanding of project scopes and Blackburn’s services

· Identify and resolve project issues, including changes to scope

· Coordinate with multiple parties to complete work


Essential Abilities:


· Communication skills internally and externally

· Multi-task between projects

· Ability to deliver a high-quality deliverable in a timely manner

· Technical writing

· Interpersonal skills

· Self-starter


Technical Qualifications:


· Professional Engineer license (PE)

· Bachelor’s degree in engineering or geology, Master preferred

· 6-10 years of relevant experience

· Experience with public agencies preferred

· Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle

· Computer savvy (Windows based systems)


Physical Requirements:


· Read, write, and speak English

· Communicate clearly in person and over telephone

· Visual acuity to perform job duties

· Physical ability to bend, reach, stand, walk, sit, push and pull up to 40lbs amounts of weight

· Physical ability to hand auger
