Summary
Delta Oaks Group is seeking an individual to support our Geotechnical Department on projects in the telecommunications and commercial sectors. Candidates will be assisting with multiple day-to-day operations of specific engineering projects related to our geotechnical engineering team, including project set up, scheduling and coordinating with drilling subcontractors, and tracking/maintaining subcontractor data. Career and/or educational experience should establish a familiarity of pre-requisite data requirements regarding project management aspects of geotechnical and/or construction materials testing (CMT) methodology to obtain such data.
Positional Responsibilities
The Project Manager will assist department management and engineers with the day-to-day aspects of geotechnical department operations. This position is responsible for project setups, technical data compilation, and managing all aspects of the subcontractor supply chain. Tasks include but are not limited to the following:
  • Project Setup and maintenance of project trackers
  • Prepare driller quote request and notice to proceed documents.
  • Schedule and manage all subcontractor drilling assignments including, but not limited to, ensuring drillers have accurate assignment sheets, boring location plans, and accurate maps / directions to the project.
  • Follow-up with drillers to obtain drill dates based on project timelines and client requirements.
  • Coordinate with landowners for awarded projects to make access arrangements for proposed drill dates.
  • Verification of underground utilities clearance and occasional coordination of private utility clearance.
  • Prepare and assist engineers with boring logs and boring layouts.
  • Assist engineers in the preparation of geotechnical reports to ensure all necessary data is obtained.
  • Coordinate with drillers on shipping soil and rock samples to the laboratories
  • Maintain and manage vendor files to ensure all vendor information, insurances, and documents are up-to-date and executed appropriately.
The selected individual will be expected to have a basic understanding of Geotechnical/CMT services and subcontractor coordination. Due to the nature and limited timelines of most projects, the selected candidate should be willing and capable of exhibiting the work ethic and social ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment where timely communication with co-workers, clients and strategic partners is paramount.
Computer SoftwareExperience
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word and advanced Excel functions is required.
  • Knowledge of project management software (JIRA) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Google Workspace, including Google Earth, is desired.
Experience/Minimum Requirements
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience working in a similar project management role is required with specific experience in the telecommunication tower or construction materials testing sector desired.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with co-workers, subcontractors, clients or their representatives, jurisdictional officials, landowners, and other engineering vendors.
  • Ability to work and excel in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability of project management concepts.
