The Scientist, Integration/Test Engineer is responsible for developing and using engineering documentation and test procedures; configuring LRUs and subsystem components for single- and multi‑thread interface testing; executing subsystem‑and system‑level ground test plans for integration, verification, and validation; and troubleshooting system discrepancies to the component level to support timely fault isolation and resolution. Duties include identifying LRU failures and coordinating repair and retest activities, documenting hardware, software, and firmware anomalies and recommending corrective actions, supporting EMI/TEMPEST testing and system integration efforts for hardware and software development, and performing aircraft pre‑flight checks to ensure system and subsystem readiness for flight operations.

Essential Functions:
  • Conduct subsystem pre-operational checks in accordance with approved engineering documentation and test procedures.
  • Configure and prepare LRUs and subsystem components for single-thread and multi-thread interface testing and operation.
  • Execute subsystem- and system-level Ground Test Plans in support of integration, verification, and validation activities.
  • Troubleshoot system and subsystem discrepancies to the component level and support timely fault isolation and resolution.
  • Identify LRU failures and perform or coordinate required repair, replacement, and retest activities.
  • Detect and document hardware, software, and firmware anomalies, and recommend corrective actions through applicable enterprise systems and engineering processes.

Provide technical input to design changes intended to improve mission effectiveness, equipment reliability, maintainability, and operational efficiency.

Coordinate regularly with engineering, manufacturing, quality, field support, and customer organizations to resolve technical issues and support program execution.

Qualifications:

Requires mastery level knowledge within a specific technical area or multiple job areas. Viewed as an expert and/or resource within the field by peers in and outside the organization. Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related experience.

  • Experience maintaining Avionic/NAV/Flight Control systems and electrical subsystems on military airborne and/or ground-based platforms
  • Thorough knowledge of operational procedures, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance techniques for aircraft Avionic systems and subsystems
  • Understanding of basic avionics equipment and theory
  • Ability to read and interpret aircraft wiring diagrams and follow aircraft Technical Orders (TOs)
  • Solid working knowledge of Avionics test equipment including IFR4000, TACAN test sets, Pitot Static test sets, IFF/TCAS transponder test sets, etc.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline desired; military technical training, associate degree, relevant experience, or applicable coursework considered in lieu of degree
  • Familiarity with industry-standard electronic test equipment, COTS hardware, Linux/Windows applications, and other COTS software tools
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Must currently hold or be able to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret clearance; must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment with changing schedules and potentially extended shifts; flexibility required
  • Ability to support multiple shifts and varying work schedules
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain FAA Class III flight physical qualification
  • Willingness to travel CONUS and OCONUS up to 10%
Preferred Additional Skills:
  • Strong applicable test environment experience.
  • Flexibility with work schedules in a dynamic work environment.
  • Previous experience on G550 or similar platforms.
  • Experience with Cryptographic units and loading devices.
