Job Summary
This position is under general supervision GIS Manager, this position supports day-to-day port operations and the Port of Corpus Christi Authority's (PCCA) strategic plan by assisting with the maintenance, analysis, and development of geospatial data and solutions.
Essential Functions:
  • Assists with the collection, processing, analysis, and visualization of geospatial data, producing digital geospatial products (e.g., applications, dashboards, web maps), as well as maps and other supporting visual materials upon request.
  • Assists in maintaining and enhancing enterprise geospatial datasets, including feature editing, QA/QC, metadata updates, and adherence to established data standards and governance practices.
  • Supports field data collection efforts using UAS and/or other remote sensing technologies; assists in processing collected data and managing derived products (e.g., orthomosaics, point clouds, bathymetric models).
  • Assists in developing scripts, tools, and automated workflows (e.g., Python, FME, ModelBuilder) to improve efficiency and support the creation of repeatable geospatial processes and deliverables.
  • Contributes to the development and maintenance of documented workflows, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and data guidelines to promote consistency, repeatability, and long-term program sustainability.
  • Collaborates with other internal departments to support geospatial needs and contribute to timely project development and delivery.

  • Adheres to Port Policy and maintains good employee relations.
  • Complete assigned tasks and works required Hours/shifts fulfill Port objectives.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Additional Physical Factors:
While performing duties employee is regularly required to sit, speak or hear, use hand finger movements; occasionally required to stand, walk, reach stoop, kneel and lift and/or move up to 30 pounds
Environmental Factors:
General office environment; some occasional exposure to adverse weather conditions.
Minimum Qualifications:
This is an internship position. Candidates shall be attending an accredited college or university with a major in Geographic Information Science or related field with an emphasis in GIS. Basic proficiency with computers and standard software is required; familiarity with GIS applications (e.g., ArcGIS or similar) is preferred. Must demonstrate written and oral proficiency in the English language with strong writing, editing and graphic communication skills, organizational and time management skills; ability to operate a personal computer and a variety of programs, office equipment, and internet. Must deal effectively with the public and varying levels of management.
