Job description

Join our team as a Geoscience Specialist where you'll interpret subsurface data to unlock the earth's natural resources. Using advanced technical software, you'll develop geological models to understand rock characteristics and identify oil, gas, and mineral-bearing formations. This role offers the opportunity to work on diverse projects while collaborating with clients and internal teams to deliver integrated solutions in a dynamic, safety-focused environment.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Data Interpretation & Analysis: Process, interpret, and evaluate and LWD (Logging While Drilling) and Wireline logs to determine hydrocarbon-bearing intervals, assess wellbore integrity, and understand formation properties for well placement

  • Technical Deliverables: Perform quality control reviews, generate log prints and comprehensive reports, and deliver final interpretations to customers in a timely manner

  • Client Collaboration: Conduct regular client visits to understand their needs, provide technical support, coordinate with petroleum engineering staff, and contribute to solution sales

  • Real-Time Support: Provide well-site technical assistance and real-time monitoring as needed to ensure operational success

  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in training courses, prepare technical papers and presentations, and engage in internal mentoring to drive professional development

  • Safety & Compliance: Maintain the highest HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) standards, ensuring all activities comply with company policies, industry regulations, and ethical practices

  • Data Management: Ensure timely data archiving, storage, and quality assurance across all projects

Skills and Education

  • Education: University Degree in Engineering, Geology, Geoscience, or Geophysics

  • Experience: 10 years of related oilfield experience, preferably with drilling/LWD operations and/or well placement in Canada

  • Technical Expertise:  Proven experience in drilling and LWD operations and interpretation, wireline operations and interpretation

  • Analytical Skills: Strong presentation, analytical, and problem-solving abilities with capacity to resolve complex technical issues

  • Software Proficiency: Familiarity with Microsoft Office products and sophisticated geological interpretation software

  • Personal Attributes: Self-starter with eagerness to learn, ability to adapt positively to changing priorities and work environments

  • Additional experience in Open Hole Log Analysis, Petrophysics, Geology, and Image log interpretation

  • Domestic and potentially international travel up to 10%
