Job description

CW Matthews Contracting Co., Inc. is a leading heavy highway construction company with a long-standing reputation for excellence throughout the Southeast. We are seeking an experienced Asphalt Project Manager to join our growing team in the Savannah, Georgia market.
This position is ideal for a results-driven construction professional with strong asphalt paving experience and a proven track record managing DOT project, particularly within South Carolina.
Position Summary
The Asphalt Project Manager will oversee all phases of asphalt paving and roadway construction projects from award through closeout. This individual will be responsible for ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards while maintaining strong relationships with owners, subcontractors, suppliers, and field personnel.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage multiple asphalt paving and roadway construction projects simultaneously.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, forecasts, and cost controls.
  • Coordinate with superintendents, estimators, subcontractors, and clients to ensure successful project execution.
  • Review project plans, specifications, contracts, and change orders.
  • Monitor project progress and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Lead project meetings and provide regular reporting to company leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and quality requirements.
  • Maintain strong relationships with DOT representatives, owners, consultants, and stakeholders.
  • Support business development efforts and identify opportunities for future work.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5+ years of project management experience in asphalt paving, roadway, or heavy highway construction.
  • Strong experience managing South Carolina DOT (SCDOT) projects is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of Georgia DOT (GDOT) specifications and procedures is a plus.
  • Proven ability to manage project budgets, schedules, and contract administration.
  • Strong understanding of asphalt production, paving operations, and roadway construction practices.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with construction management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
