Job description

Schneider Geomatics is currently looking for a Survey Party Chief for our Energy Services team to service our Portage, Indiana office.
The ideal candidate will have the following qualities:
  • 10+ years or more of responsible party chief experience in Utility, Residential, Commercial and Highway construction staking, ALTA surveys, Route surveys, and Topographic surveys with an emphasis on utility transmission and distribution projects.
  • Experience with pipeline as-builts is a plus.
  • Candidate should possess strong leadership skills to effectively mentor and instruct crew and team members.
  • Candidate should be self-disciplined as position will often require working as a โ€œone person crewโ€.
  • Extensive knowledge of Trimble equipment โ€“ GPS base and rover units, VRS networks, Robotic total stations, Digital level, Trimble data collectors, and TBC processing software.
  • AutoCAD/Civil 3D experience is a plus
  • Maximum Allowable Operating Pressure (MAOP) experience is preferred.
  • Acceptable driving record and DOT PHMSA drug screen required.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Underground Utility locating experience is a plus
Essential Duties Include:
  • Take resource information and supervisor instructions to efficiently complete tasks within designated budgets.
  • Follow industry and company standards and procedures.
  • Process and check field data.
  • Document in field notes each project according to company standards.
  • Provide responsible care for vehicles and equipment.
  • Depending on client needs, some overnight travel may be required.
  • This position requires strict adherence to safety procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), safe operation of equipment and vehicle, and awareness of workplace hazards. Compliance with company and client safety policies, regulations, and standards is required.
