Position Overview
The Environmental Engineer I supports environmental planning, design, and compliance efforts for various types of projects. This role works under close supervision to assist with technical analyses, fieldwork, and documentation.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with environmental site assessments, permitting, and compliance tasks
  • Perform field environmental sampling (soil, groundwater, surface water, air) and data collection
  • Support preparation of technical work plans and reports, permit applications, and environmental documentation (e.g., NEPA-related documents, SWPPP, SPCC)
  • Conduct basic engineering calculations and analyses
  • Coordinate with internal teams (civil, geotechnical, construction)
  • Ensure adherence to environmental regulations and safety standards
  • Maintain accurate field notes and project records
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering or related engineering field
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience (internships included)
  • Basic understanding of federal/state environmental regulations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • EIT (Engineer-in-Training) certification or ability to obtain
  • Familiarity with GIS, AutoCAD, or environmental modeling tools
  • Fieldwork experience

Travel Requirements
This position requires travel (20% - 50%) as part of its primary responsibilities.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
  • Combination of office and fieldwork
  • Ability to travel to project sites and perform outdoor work in varying conditions
