Geological Technician

Ur-Energy Lost Creek ISR Facility, Wyoming

Job Type: Full-time

About the Role

Ur-Energy is seeking a motivated Geological Technician to join our Geology team at the Lost Creek ISR facility. In this role, you'll help locate and survey drill sites and infrastructure, collect and maintain drillhole and GIS data, and support downhole geophysical, lithologic, and camera data collection from open-hole and cased wells. You'll work both independently and as part of several multi-disciplinary teams in a hands-on field and office environment.

What You'll Do
  • Log lithology from drill cuttings
  • Conduct surveys using Trimble GPS equipment to locate and stake planned and as-built drill sites, mine-related infrastructure, and other project features using GIS and related software
  • Maintain, update, and quality-check drillhole databases, GIS datasets, spreadsheets, and other data management systems to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Create and update maps, figures, and technical exhibits using GIS and CAD software for operational, permitting, or presentation purposes
  • Learn to operate a geophysical logging truck and its related programs
  • Collect surface data using a company-operated drone
  • Acquire high-quality downhole camera data from open and cased boreholes
  • Digitize, scan, and organize geologic, survey, and operational data
  • Ensure all collected data is accurately entered, stored, and maintained per company standards and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned
What We're Looking For
  • Associate's degree in Geology or a related discipline desired, and/or two years of experience in a similar role preferred (not required)
  • Strong knowledge of data management processes
  • Professional-level oral and written communication skills
  • Strong computer skills, including GIS experience
  • Valid driver's license with an insurable driving record
Physical Requirements

This position regularly requires standing, walking, using hands to finger, handle, or feel, reaching with hands and arms, and talking or hearing. It frequently requires climbing or balancing and stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, with occasional sitting. Employees must regularly lift/move up to 25 lbs, frequently up to 50 lbs, and occasionally up to 75 lbs. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

Work is regularly performed with exposure to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
