Job description

Turner Staffing Group is seeking an experienced Exploration Project Geologist for a 6-month project assignment with the possibility of extension. This role supports exploration drilling programs and field operations, combining technical geology expertise with project coordination, contractor management, and exploration program oversight.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on core logging experience and a proven track record supporting or managing exploration drilling programs in active field environments. This position requires regular travel to project sites throughout Arizona and close collaboration with geologists, drilling contractors, and project stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate exploration drilling activities and day-to-day field operations.
  • Ensure equipment, field supplies, and materials arrive on schedule.
  • Manage field schedules and drill program work plans.
  • Monitor project progress including drilling, logging, sampling, scanning, and assay workflows.
  • Oversee contractor and vendor performance.
  • Support compliance with health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Troubleshoot operational challenges that impact schedules, budgets, or project objectives.
  • Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Provide regular project updates and status reports to stakeholders.
  • Support the review and interpretation of exploration data and results.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to evaluate findings and recommend next phases of work.
  • Balance operational priorities with technical exploration objectives.

Typical Responsibilities

A typical day may include:

  • Reviewing drilling progress and inspecting core retrieval activities.
  • Coordinating with drilling contractors and resolving field issues.

  • Ability to work independently in remote field environments.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard geological data management systems.
  • Ability to travel regularly to project sites throughout Arizona.
