Who You Are

A highly skilled Senior Metallurgist with a strong technical background and extensive experience in heap leaching and gold recovery circuits, particularly Merrill-Crowe processing. The ideal candidate will bring a minimum of 10 years of metallurgical experience and a Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy or Metallurgical Engineering.

This is a safety sensitive position. As the Senior Metallurgist you report to the Processing Manager. 


What You Do

Implement and maintain company safety and environmental standards.

Develop, maintain, and improve the site's geometallurgical model, ensuring accurate integration of metallurgical, geological, and operations data.

Executing testwork programs and protocols to evaluate leach-pad performance against model predictions. 

Recommend updates or adjustments to the metallurgical model based on testwork results and operational data

Collaborate with geology and operations to maintain and enhance the geometallurgical model. Propose improvements as needed.

Work closely with ore control and site geology teams to characterize material properties and develop effective blending strategies.

Supervise daily operations of the assay laboratory, leach pad, Merrill-Crowe plant, and refinery.

Prepare technical reports, as needed, interpreting laboratory data, with recommendations and conclusions.

Ensure compliance with approvals, permits, and regulatory requirements for laboratory, leach pad, Merrill-Crowe plant, refinery operations, and hazardous substances management.

Ensure safe operations with regular safety training and meetings to achieve zero incidents.

Provide technical support to the crushing plant operations.

Keep updated on technical advancements and introduce new procedures as applicable.

Assist in setting production targets and process department budgeting.

Contribute to monthly management reports.

Other duties as assigned. 


What You Bring

Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy or Metallurgical Engineering.

An advanced degree is preferred; however, equivalent experience with proven technical leadership may be considered.

5 to 10 years of experience in heap leaching and gold recovery circuits (particularly Merrill-Crowe circuits).

Strong computer skills are essential.

Experience in operating and maintaining a fire and solution assay laboratory, including a variety of laboratory equipment.

Expertise in metallurgical procedures and quality control practices.

Strong verbal and written communication skills, with excellent interpersonal and problem-solving abilities.

High standards of work and a professional demeanor.
