Job description

Job Summary:
Omega Solutions, Inc. is seeking a Geographic Information Systems Technician responsible for providing technical support for the data conversion and creation of spatial data in support of GIS. The role involves preparing GIS mapping projects, performing data management, and ensuring accuracy in GIS data.
Responsibilities:
โ€ข Performs data entry of textual and geographic information into a Geographic Information Systems.
โ€ข Performs data input using coordinate geometry, digitizing, file conversions, geoprocessing and georeferencing.
โ€ข Performs quality control checks to ensure data is accurate and adheres to data standards and procedures.
โ€ข Reads, reviews, and interprets utility related documents (e.g., block maps, as-built drawings, etc.).
โ€ข Researches, interprets, and analyzes data and records for projects.
โ€ข Performs data management, including the organization and maintenance of GIS data, record documents, and other electronic files and data types.
โ€ข Develops and utilizes Geodatabase (GDB) information for GIS related projects.
โ€ข Applies knowledge of civil engineering design, municipal infrastructure, utility systems, map projections, and an understanding of coordinate systems.
โ€ข Performs data validation and verification efforts, including in-office review of record drawings and field visits to verify location and characteristics of assets.
โ€ข Produces maps and other GIS products using GIS software.
โ€ข Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
โ€ข Experience editing data in a Geometric Network using ArcMap
โ€ข Experience reading utility construction documents (design drawings, redlines, as builts, etc.)
โ€ข Experience using ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro
โ€ข Familiarity with editing in ArcGIS Pro
โ€ข Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Geography, GIS, Management Information Systems or related field from an institution accredited by a recognized accrediting agency.
โ€ข Valid Class 'C' Texas Driver's License.
โ€ข Ability to report to work on time, maintain a good attendance record, and work all designated work schedules.
โ€ข Two years of college with coursework in Engineering, Geography, or a related field from an institution accredited by a recognized accrediting agency.
โ€ข Three years' experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), computer aided drafting and design software, cartography, and technical drafting applications.
โ€ข Valid Class 'C' Texas Driver's License.
โ€ข Ability to report to work on time, maintain a good attendance record, and work all designated work schedules.
Preferred:
โ€ข Knowledge of civil engineering design of municipal infrastructure.
โ€ข Knowledge of symbols and terminology in civil engineering drawings.
โ€ข AutoCAD or Microstation experience
โ€ข ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro experience
โ€ข Cartography
โ€ข Familiarity with editing data in a Geometric Network using ArcMap
โ€ข Familiarity with editing in ArcGIS Pro
