Job description

SRK Consulting is an independent, international consulting practice, providing globally integrated consulting services to the international mining and metals sector.
We are seeking a Senior Geochemist.
Description of Responsibilities:
  • To assist the Geochemistry team in undertaking Acid Rock Drainage and Metal Leaching (ARDML) assessments of mine sites
  • To assist with analysis of large Geochemical datasets and critical interpretation of geochemical data pertaining to mining environments
  • To assist with mine site water quality predictions using geochemical software
  • To undertake geochemical/environmental fieldwork and be involved in the collection of rock, soil and water samples
  • To produce high quality technical reports, which effectively communicate detailed geochemical information to non-specialists
  • To undertake administrative tasks including the organization of project meetings and documentation and the implementation of procedures required to ensure accurate and timely reporting, and
  • You may be asked to perform other duties occasionally which are not included above, but which will be consistent with the role.

Essential Requirements:
  • A degree specializing in geology or geochemistry, preferably with a higher degree involving significant aspects of environmental geochemistry and/or hydrogeochemistry
  • At least 8 years of experience in geochemistry or geology
  • Experience in the analysis of large geochemical datasets, including quality control, data interpretation and reporting
  • General knowledge of mining-related environmental issues and regulations and policies
  • Experience using geochemical modeling software packages such as PHREEQC, MINTEQ and Geochemist`s Workbench
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office applications including Word and PowerPoint, with specific expertise in the use of Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent attention to detail and critical analysis skills
  • Strong writing and communication skills with the ability to provide verbal presentations and written reports
  • Proven ability to work independently and generate, implement and complete multiple work assignments in a dynamic environment
  • Willingness to travel and undertake fieldwork
  • Several years of experience in applied geochemical modeling
