Job description

PURPOSE
To carry out the objectives of Carroll Electric Cooperative Corporation, operating within board policies, state and federal regulatory agency rules, and cooperative budgets to provide maximum service to the members of the cooperative. These objectives will be obtained by effectively learning and performing a variety of duties necessary for the operation and maintenance of the geographic information system.
RELATIONSHIPS
  • Reports to GIS Coordinator.
  • Directs no personnel.
  • Cooperates and coordinates with all persons, within and outside the cooperative, and with all firms, organizations, consultants, and other groups as deemed necessary to carry out the responsibilities of the position.
  • Supports functions related to Engineering and Operation records.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITIES
  • Assists in implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures, standards, and work for the GIS/Mapping Section of the Engineering Services Department.
  • Maintains and updates GIS databases and other related information including mapping.
  • Performs other tasks related to GIS data development including but not limited to assistance in design, development and creation of spatial databases, maps and other related projects. The ability to accept a project independently and in a teamwork environment, design methodology to complete project, and produce final projects.
  • Organize, support, and train other GIS technicians and users along with planning work for others.
  • GIS/Mapping and organization record update processes. Design and update reports.
  • Preparation of geo-spatial data for use with other applications and maps.
  • Interpret engineering plans and accurately convert to system records.
  • Works safely and follows rules including while driving cooperative vehicle, operating tablet, and cyber security.
  • Maintain neatness in work process and organization of material.
  • Works well under high volume and high stress.
  • Performs a wide variety of other technical duties as requested or required by the position.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Degree or progress toward a degree in Geographic Information Systems.
  • Education and experience with geo-spatial databases and global positioning system equipment.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience.
