Job Description
The Sales Manager, Discovery is responsible for driving revenue growth through direct sales and aggressively expanding our marketshare within basic research environments. This role is laser-focused on winning new customers, penetrating underdeveloped accounts, and effectively positioning BioDot's Discovery products and services to meet customer needs in pharmabiotech, academic, government, and non-profit research institutions. The ideal candidate thrives in the field, creates opportunities where none existed, and consistently outperforms quota through disciplined prospecting and relentless execution. Essential Job Duties
  • Own new customer acquisition, targeting net-new labs, institutions, and research groups.
  • Achieve or exceed individual revenue and growth targets through proactive prospecting, pipeline management, and deal execution.
  • Convert early-stage interest into funded capital purchases through disciplined pipeline management and closing rigor.
  • Develop strong relationships with key decision-makers, influencers, and technical stakeholders.
  • Present and articulate product value propositions, including translating complex scientific concepts into customer-relevant benefits.
  • Rapidly understand customer research objectives and translate them into compelling technical and financial value propositions.
  • Sell the business value of BioDot's Discovery solutions.
  • Manage the full sales cycle, including lead generation, opportunity qualification, proposals, pricing, negotiation, and closing.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Applications, Service, Production, and Marketing teams to ensure effective solution delivery.
  • Relentlessly follow up and quarterback all opportunities to completion.
  • Maintain accurate pipeline, forecasting, and activity tracking in CRM systems.
  • Monitor industry trends, competitive activity, and customer feedback to identify opportunities and risks.
  • Represent the company at conferences, trade shows, and customer meetings as required.
  • Adhere to company policies, ethical standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Business, or a related field (advanced degree preferred but not required)
  • Technical fluency in genomic and proteomic workflows such as NGS, Mass Spec, etc.
  • 3-7+ years of direct sales experience in the life sciences industry (e.g., reagents, instruments, diagnostics, services)
  • Proven track record of consistently meeting or exceeding individual sales quotas
  • Experience selling into scientific, technical, or regulated environments
  • Strong consultative selling, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Proficiency with CRM tools and standard sales reporting

  • A science-minded individual with experience marketing/selling to scientists, ideally in the life science industry. Genomics, Proteomics, Drug Discovery experience desired.
  • A sales professional with experience selling & supporting capital equipment products in the $50k to $1M price range.

LOCATION: The role will serve customers and clients primarily located on the East Coast of the US. Preference will go to candidates located in the Northeast or East Coast regions.
Compensation: The role will be commission eligible with an OTE of $180,000-$195,000 with uncapped potential. The base salary range is between $130,000- $140,000.
