Primary Responsibilities

  • Level 1
    • Build relationships of trust and respect with all ProHEALTH clinicians, office staff, Referral Laboratories, and other clients.
    • Provide accurate, valid, and complete information to all callers.
    • Promote positive co-worker relationships, teamwork and cooperation, both within the department and across departmental lines.
    • Document caller interactions and ensures proper follow-up.
    • Follow communication policies and procedure.
    • Receive and enter specimens into LIS.
    • Enter data from hardcopy or electronic requisitions to Laboratory Information System.
    • Demonstrate knowledge of test codes and test requirements such as sample type, sample volume, storage temperature, transport container, and sample stability when adding a test.
    • Operate laboratory equipment such as centrifuges, incubators, and pipets.
    • Accurately process STAT and irreplaceable samples.
    • Document issues with requisition or samples.
    • Process/receive/scan an average of 35-40 or more samples per hour/shift accurately.
    • Troubleshoot common issues with requisition or samples.
    • Follow all safety policy and procedures including proper use of PPE.
  • Level 2
    • All responsibilities listed for Level 1 plusโ€ฆ
    • Analyze processes and suggest workflow improvements.
    • Process/receive/scan an above average of 40-50 or more samples per hour/shift accurately.
    • Prepare samples for shipment to outside labs with accurate packing slip/manifest.
    • Communicate any unresolved issues to leadership with background and suggestions for resolution.
    • Review packing list for errors and resolve when possible.
    • Display excellent time management to meet shipping deadlines.
  • Level 3
    • All responsibilities listed for Level 1 and 2 plusโ€ฆ
    • Troubleshoot with minimal to no management supervision and address complex issues and testing.
    • Compile all investigative work done as a team to then finalize for manager review and resolution.
    • Assist in writing SOPโ€™s and implement constructive solutions.
    • Perform end of the shift tasks such as printing the un-received samples log, accessing the missing specimen type within LIS, and notifying the next shift supervisor and providers of missing specimens/missed pickups.
    • Contact logistics and reschedule new pickups for missed pickups.
    • Train and mentor new employees/accessioners.
    • Process/receive/scan an above average of 50+ samples per hour/shift accurately.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • Previous laboratory experience preferred.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Level 2-3
    • Previous laboratory experience required.
