Job description

Job Summary

Pipeline Engineer II โ€“ Salt Lake City, UT 84111 โ€“ 12 months โ€“ #18964 โ€“ Pay: $65โ€“70/hr

Key Responsibilities

Providing technical and design support for pipeline routing and layout, determining block and tap valve placement, and designing pipeline crossings for rivers, interstates, and highways using open dig or trenchless construction methods. Must ensure compliance with industry codes, standards, and best practices and perform engineering analyses of pipeline stress from internal pressure, external loads, thermal expansion, soil loads, seismic effects, etc.

Additional Duties

Specifying pipe materials and coatings, procuring materials, preparing and submitting engineering documentation (including calculations, forms, and checklists), tracking project schedules and monitoring budgets. Developing pressure test procedures and supporting commissioning activities.

Qualifications

Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to collaborate with crossโ€‘functional teams: design drafting (construction drawings), rightโ€‘ofโ€‘way agents (easement & property rights coordination), cathodic protection engineers (corrosion control systems), and environmental specialists (wetlands, wildlife, cultural resources).

A bachelorโ€™s degree in mechanical or civil engineering from an accredited college and 4โ€“7 years of relevant experience. Foundational knowledge of highโ€‘pressure steel pipeline materials and construction practices. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, communication tools, and engineering analysis software. Reports to a supervisor or manager.
