Job Summary
Implements procurement initiatives to optimize Walgreens' cost of goods for generic pharmaceutical products. Provides execution on initiatives focused on evaluating, creating, implementing, and refining opportunities to optimize supply and service cost of goods (COGs) through procurement. Builds external partnerships and develops tools and processes to enhance profitability, ensuring alignment with Walgreen strategies.
Schedule: This position offers remote work.
Job Responsibilities
  • Provides analytic support on forecasting, ordering and metric tracking systems to others within the Supply Chain group.
  • Works cross-functionally across the Pharmacy Purchasing and Supply Chain organization, using data and analytics to provide insight and recommendations that aid in decisions that have significant impact on the business (such as whether pharma contract terms are beneficial to the Walgreens organization).
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of multiple specific business groups in order to create analytic insights for their business and develop appropriate business strategies.
  • Responsible to help define and translate business goals into an analytic strategy that will drive action and support business unit leader(s) objectives
  • Designs periodic and ad hoc reporting and analyses to evaluate, maintain and improve Walgreens purchasing power and/or processes relating to inventory management. Identifies root causes driving undesirable performance and provides quality assurance guidance.
  • Identifies projects, articulates value proposition, identifies systems and processes to be addressed and how, formulates the benefit case, involves the appropriate departments, manages the execution and completion and measures the impact upon implementation. Creates, updates and reviews with management, team work plans and progress.
  • Direct, plan, and maintain the development of internal tools used to increase departmental efficiencies and aid in reporting and analytical capabilities of the department and maintains awareness of best practices.
  • Responsible for providing various ad-hoc data requests to internal and external management teams
  • Demonstrates and develops, using querying applications, fluency among team in accessing information from data sources (i.e. Walgreen Data Warehouse, ADR7, ADR4, EDW, custom departmental applications, Inventory Metrics, etc...). Demonstrates and develops team fluency in using key Office applications (i.e. Excel, Access, and Visual Basic for Applications). Employs necessary steps for validating the accuracy of data and business rules used in analysis.
  • Manage, coach, mentor and develop a team of analysts to deliver analytical insights to business owners and create cross-functional succession plans
  • Provide project management support for business unit's objectives by identifying, executing and tracking benefits of value added projects

External Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience with analyzing and reporting data in order to identify issues, trends, or exceptions to drive improvement of results and find solutions; OR, High School Diploma/GED and 8 years of experience with analyzing and reporting data in order to identify issues, trends, or exceptions to drive improvement of results and find solutions.
  • 2 years Pharmaceutical industry experience
  • Advanced level skill in Microsoft Access (for example: modifying default field properties, creating a subform, adding a control button, modifying query criteria and query totals, using conditional formatting and/or viewing data relationships).
  • Advanced level skill in Microsoft Excel (for example: using AVERAGE function, merging and centering cells, printing centered page and/or creating a pivot table).
  • Intermediate level skill in Microsoft PowerPoint (for example: applying a theme, formatting character spacing, inserting a picture, changing slide layout and theme colors, adding transitions, customizing slide numbers, changing chart style and/or formatting font).
  • Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Word (for example: inserting headers, page breaks, page numbers and tables and/or adjusting table columns).
  • Experience using time management skills such as prioritizing/organizing and tracking details and meeting deadlines of multiple projects with varying completion dates.
  • Intermediate level skill in SQL or other querying applications
  • Experience in diagnosing, isolating, and resolving complex issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems
  • Experience communicating both verbally (on phone, one-on-one, to groups) and in writing (emails, letters, reports, presentations) to various audiences (work group, team, company management, external clients).
  • Experience using business analytic skills including facilitating requirements sessions and documenting activity workflows and business requirements.
  • At least 1 year of direct leadership, indirect leadership and/or cross functional team leadership.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, economics, or mathematics or experience with inventory management/supply chain analytics and finance modeling
  • Retail experience
  • Experience developing strategic initiatives which align with business goals and budget.
  • Experience directly managing people including hiring, developing, motivating, and directing people as they work.

An employee in this position can expect a salary rate between $77,100 and $197,300 plus bonus pursuant to the terms of any bonus plan if applicable.
