Ruby Electric is seeking a full-time Generator Technician and Installer to join our electrical team in Springfield, IL and serve customers within a 50-mile radius. This full-time position offers steady hours, competitive hourly pay ranging from $22 – $36, and the chance to work with a respected local company.

THE TYPE OF ELECTRIC GENERATOR TECHNICIAN AND INSTALLER WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • 2+ year(s) of experience working with generators
  • Valid driver's license
  • Experience reading manuals and following instructions as well as running a job and troubleshooting challenges
  • Knowledge of wiring, 24 – 480 volt systems, troubleshooting, and blueprint reading
  • Ability to operate equipment such as excavators, bucket trucks, scissor lifts, backhoes, and bobcats
  • Ability to climb ladders, work in attics and crawl spaces, and handle extreme weather conditions

WHAT IT'S LIKE TO BE OUR ELECTRIC GENERATOR TECHNICIAN AND INSTALLER

  • This is a full-time role, Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM. Each day will begin at our Springfield location before traveling to the designated job site or service area.
  • As an Electric Generator Technician and Installer, you will start your day by reporting to our location in Springfield before heading out to job sites within a 50-mile radius. You will spend your time performing preventative maintenance on generators, handling diagnostics and repairs of both mechanical and electrical systems, and servicing generators by changing air filters, oil, spark plugs, checking battery levels, and more.
  • You will also be involved in the installation and hook-up of home standby generators, ensuring systems are running safely and reliably. Some days you will work independently, and on others you will collaborate with a small crew, adapting to the needs of each project.
