Job description

JOB SUMMARY

Truity Credit Union is seeking a data-savvy and forward-thinking Data and AI Engineer to advance our data management and AI enablement capabilities. This role focuses on automating data workflows, refining data quality, and leveraging AI/ML tools to solve practical business problems. Rather than full-scale software development, this position emphasizes data transformation, enrichment, querying, and AI-assisted processing, especially using Python, Node.js and SQL.

You’ll collaborate with teams such as Software Engineering, Data, Business Analysts, and Other technology stakeholders to create intelligent workflows, build/refine models and apply AI to real-world business/operational problems.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Design and implement data manipulation pipelines using scripting languages like Python and SQL for ingestion, cleansing, enrichment, and formatting.
  2. Apply AI tools and frameworks to automate data classification, validation, and reporting tasks.
  3. Configure and test generative models (LLMs) to enhance data-driven workflows and knowledge management.
  4. Build lightweight scripts and tools for on-demand data exploration, transformation, and summarization.
  5. Partner with analysts and business users to identify AI-powered opportunities for streamlining data operations.
  6. Integrate LLM-based agents for structured and unstructured data extraction, Q&A, and document parsing.
  7. Use vector databases, semantic search, and embedding models to enhance data retrieval and knowledge systems.
  8. Support and maintain data pipelines across structured systems (e.g., SQL warehouses) and semi-structured data sources.
  9. Leverage prompt engineering and AI orchestration frameworks (e.g., LangChain, semantic routers) to optimize task handling.
  10. Monitor AI/data automation scripts to ensure accuracy, transparency, and compliance with data privacy standards.
  11. Document data workflows and AI tools clearly for reuse, maintainability, and auditability.
  12. Collaborate with the risk, security, and compliance teams to ensure responsible and ethical use of AI systems.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

  • Proficiency in Python for scripting, data manipulation, and automation.
  • Strong command of SQL for querying, transforming, and joining relational data.
  • Experience with LLM tools and frameworks such as LangChain, OpenAI APIs, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG).
  • Familiarity with vector stores (e.g., FAISS, Weaviate) and embedding-based search.
  • Understanding of data pipelines and orchestration tools (e.g., dbt, Airflow, Pandas workflows).
  • Knowledge of AI agent frameworks and task routing techniques.
  • Ability to build and refine prompt templates and AI-assisted data workflows.
  • Comfort working with cloud environments (e.g., Azure, AWS, or GCP).
  • Strong documentation, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Knowledge of version control, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization tools is preferred
  • Awareness of ethical AI, privacy considerations, and data compliance standards.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, or related technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics, or scripting-heavy roles.
  • 2+ years working with AI/ML tools or automation frameworks, especially for data-related use cases.
