Job description

Job Title: General Shop Labor

Job Description

This General Shop Labor role supports the remanufacturing of heavy equipment engines, transmissions, powertrains, and related components. You will help disassemble, clean, repair, and reassemble equipment using small machinery and hand tools, ensuring high-quality, reliable products that meet or exceed customer expectations. The position involves hands-on mechanical work, surface preparation, and operation of cleaning and material-handling equipment in a busy production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Disassemble engines, small components, transmissions, differentials, motors, and hydraulic units under the guidance of supervision using small machinery and hand tools.
  • Prepare surfaces by grinding, sanding, cleaning, or polishing parts to correct defects and ensure components are ready for repair or reassembly.
  • Perform machine setups, basic material handling, and minor general maintenance to keep equipment in proper working condition.
  • Operate the hot tank machine safely and maintain proper chemical concentration for effective cleaning.
  • Steam clean parts and components for reuse, ensuring they meet cleanliness and quality standards.
  • Perform all work according to the highest quality standards to produce a superior end product that meets or exceeds customer expectations.
  • Participate in and support the principles of Open Book Management, contributing ideas and engaging in business performance discussions.
  • Monitor chemical balances in the hot tank and adjust concentrations as needed to maintain safe and effective operation.
  • Control and manage waste generated from the steam cleaning process in accordance with company procedures.
  • Use forklifts, cranes, hoists, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment safely to move heavy parts and assemblies.
  • Use torque wrenches, hand tools, and power tools to assist with disassembly, cleaning, and reassembly tasks.
  • Read and interpret hot tank machine outputs and basic records as needed to ensure proper operation and quality.
  • Log and review quality records, bills of material, and checklists on a computer as required.
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support production and maintenance needs.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lexington, KY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.73 - $19.75/hr.
