Job description

POSITION TITLE:    GENERAL FOOD SERVICE WORKER, BRISTOL CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL
DEPARTMENT:        CAFETERIA - General Worker 
REPORTS TO:         DIRECTOR/ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF FOOD SERVICES
SUMMARY:              To assist in the preparation and service of quality food to students in a quick and pleasant manner.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Other duties may be assigned.
  • Responsible for all general food preparation, serving and sanitation procedures.
  • Assists in the preparation of vegetables, salads, sandwiches and other menu items.
  • Assists in counter set-up and breakdown.
  • Assists in serving of daily menu items.
  • Responsible for sanitation in specific work areas and general kitchen cleanup.
  • Performs other duties as requested by supervisors.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:  NONE
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:  TO PERFORM THIS JOB SUCCESSFULLY, AN INDIVIDUAL MUST BE ABLE TO PERFORM EACH ESSENTIAL DUTY SATISFACTORILY.  THE REQUIREMENTS LISTED BELOW ARE REPRESENTATIVE OF THE KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND/OR ABILITY REQUIRED.  REASONABLE ACCOMMODATIONS MAY BE MADE TO ENABLE INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES TO PERFORM THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS.
 
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.
Previous experience with large-scale cooking and food preparation/serving.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s.  Ability to perform these operations using units of American currency and weight measurements, volume and distance.                                       
DATE OF SERVICE: As soon as possible
SALARY: Per negotiated contract
HOURS: 5.5 HOURS-  8:30 am to 2:00 pm
