Be our next Project Technologist - Building Science!

Your work environment at EXP

In this role, you will be a part of the Building Science group, based in Cambridge, ON, ON office and have the opportunity to work on variety of projects.

What a day at EXP has in store for you

  • Daily site reviews of multiple ongoing Highrise, Midrise and Low-rise residential.
  • Condominium/Town Home projects in line with the Builder Bulletin19-R Risk-Areas and Tarion guidelines.
  • Review for general conformance to design intent, drawings, specification and good industry practices.
  • Review of below and above grade waterproofing systems, roofing systems and cladding systems. Training and mentoring will be provided.
  • Review and evaluation of fire-safety system submittals.
  • Field review of fire safety and ULC firestop assembly installations.
  • Meetings with general contractor, sub-contractors and trades to actively coordinate day-to-day site issues and deficiencies.
  • Prompt completion and submission of Field Observation Reports.  This requires working overtime based on fast paced requirements of this position.
  • Preparation of Tarion documents and associated progress reports for projects.
  • Tracking of deficiencies from site reviews and consultant reports and collaboration with site staff for rectification of deficiencies and issuance of sign-off reports.
  • The work will include field testing of structural and building envelope components and systems.

What your experience looks like

  • Diploma/degree in a related field of study such as Building/ Architectural Science, Architecture or Civil Engineering.
  • Knowledge of building science, evaluation, design, and new construction.
  • Experience completing Building Condition Assessments and Reserve Fund Studies is an asset.
  • Experience completing Restoration/ Repair Projects is an asset.
  • Proficient and working knowledge of AutoCAD. 
  • Working Knowledge of Microsoft Office (i.e., Word and Excel). 
  • Knowledge of the Ontario Building Code and Ontario Fire Code is an asset. 
  • BCIN for the design of small buildings would be considered an asset. 
  • Working from heights experience and interest is required.  
  • A valid driver's license with own vehicle and travel throughout GTA and Southern Ontario is required.

The salary range for this role is between $62K-$82.1K. The actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location.
