Job description

The patient population for this 18-bed adult step-down unit demands intermediate-to critical care that surpasses that of the med-surg patient population. The step-down nurse is expected to have strong assessment skills and critical thinking skills that lead to sound clinical judgment and safe care practices. Although fast-paced, the nurse can expect to work in a healthy work environment with an experienced healthcare team. The general nurse to patient ratio is 1:3 for this unit. Ancillary staff are available on this unit to compliment the professional team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Nursing Degree from an accredited college
  • Current unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Louisiana
  • Current CPR/BLS certification
  • Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
