Job description

SUMMARY

Performs a variety of duties related to shipping, receiving, and general material handler functions including picking and staging for outgoing orders as well as production needs, receiving incoming raw materials, and put away of production output all in a safe and organized fashion that is compliant in a food manufacturing facility. Mandatory Saturday work may be required from time to time based on production needs. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  

  • Ensures orderly distribution of products by pulling orders from inventory according to FEFO, delivering production materials and supplies where needed, and staging finished product final distribution.
  • Contributes to the orderly operation of stock and/or materials storage area.
  • Locates materials and supplies by pulling and verifying materials and supplies listed on production orders by FEFO.
  • Utilize inventory and records software
  • Documents materials and records units delivered and location of units.
  • Documents product shipment by recording units shipped.
  • Maintains material-handling equipment by completing pre and post inspections
  • Operates forklifts, pallet jacks, and other machinery to move items, onto and off trucks, and loading dock.
  • Keeps inventory, loading areas, and machinery clean.
  • Learns and adheres to workplace safety regulations.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

Warehouse and/or fork truck experience is a plus but not required. This position requires a well organized individual that is self motivated and takes charge, is dependable and responsible, enjoys new opportunities and challenges, enjoys working with and developing people, is careful about detail and is thorough in completing tasks as assigned and on time, is flexible and open to change  

LANGUAGE SKILLS  

Able to read, analyze, and interpret ingredient specifications and recipes, general business periodicals, and or governmental regulations. Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers, staff and owners.  

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS  

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of weights and measures. Ability to apply concepts such as ratios, and proportions for ingredient and nutritional information.  

PHYSICAL DEMANDS   

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is required to regularly stand, stoop, kneel and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.  

WORK ENVIRONMENT  

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. The work environment is quick paced in close quarters. Exposure to heat from equipment and products is frequent. Exposure to cool temperatures form coolers/freezers is occasional.
