Job description

A Manager in Training (MIT) is a high-performing leader who has come to the car wash industry to learn how to assume leadership responsibility for a ZIPS site. The MIT is enrolled in an accelerated training program and works closely with leaders at multiple locations to acquire proficiency in car wash operations and preventative equipment maintenance. While the MIT does not have direct reports and has no site-level ownership responsibilities, they must possess strong leadership skills and must be able to motivate and inspire teams. Upon completion of 90 days of training, the MIT will be placed into either an Assistant Site Manager or Site Manager role based on readiness and business need.Responsibilities
  • Complete an accelerated training program that includes instruction in all core site productionand management roles
  • Develop proficiency in the technical aspects of car wash management, including preventative equipment maintenance and car wash chemistry
  • Travel to sites in their home market as needed to provide leadership and management presence
  • Attend meetings and build a network of support relationships within the market
  • Motivate and inspire site teams to consistently deliver exceptional experiences for all guests
  • Assist Site Managers in building schedules that conform with company labor guidelines
  • Support training efforts at sites and verify team members learn and retain what they are taught
  • Ensure team members work safely and in accordance with all company policies and procedures
  • Monitor operations throughout all areas of the wash and proactively assist in resolving site appearance, car quality, and throughput issues
  • Analyze site financial performance and identify opportunities to increase profitability
  • Monitor company communications and support the launch of new initiatives and programs
  • Fulfill all responsibilities of a Site Manager (with the exception of hiring, firing, promoting, andother people management actions)
  • Complete other duties as assigned
Required Skills
  • 2 years of management/leadership experience outside the car wash industry with demonstrated success in people development
  • 3 years of experience in sales and/or customer service
  • 18 years of age or older
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Available to work a minimum of 45–50 hours per week with a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and select holidays
  • Able to work around loud equipment
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Able to travel within a one-hour radius of their home site to complete training at multiple locations (mileage reimbursement available for miles driven beyond normal commute to the MIT’s home site)
  • Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to motivate others and create a strong team culture
  • Business-owner mindset and a commitment to meeting or exceeding site financial targets
  • Attentive to the many small details that help shape the guest’s experience
  • Exceptional sales and customer service skills
  • Excellent organization and time management skills with the ability to delegate and hold others accountable
