Job Overview:

General Ledger Accountant Sr. is responsible for applying accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information, prepare accurate and timely financial reports and statements and ensure appropriate accounting control procedures. The General Ledger Accountant Sr. monitors and enters transactions into the general ledger as well as sub ledgers. The Accountant Sr. creates and enters journal entries and performs complex account reconciliations. Additionally, the G/L Accountant serves as a primary point of contact for external auditors.

Essential Responsibilities:

General Ledger

  • Maintain integrity of ledgers and transactions.
  • Partner with other departments to coordinate monthly close
  • Prepares and enters complex journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Prepares of monthly financial statements
  • Reviews and analyzes various accounts utilizing variance reporting
  • Establish and monitor the implementation and maintenance of accounting control procedures
  • Primary point of contact for external auditors
  • Assist in training of staff accountants

Accounting System Maintenance

  • Investigate and conduct “root cause” analysis on transactional posting errors occurring through various system feeds
  • Collaborates with IS in taking corrective action on resolving system issues and defining system requirements for program modifications
  • Assists in the analysis of the system posting processes and provides recommendations for improvements
  • Interacts with other Finance Groups (AP, AR, VPC) in identifying system related issues within their environment
