Job description

Summary:

Responsible for dumping soiled linen from carts and sorting and separating mixed soiled linen from Laundry accounts. Processing clean, dry, folded linen and/or linen that requires ironing, and placing it into delivery carts.

Essential Responsibilities:

Soiled Linen Sorting

  • Sort soiled linen received from accounts. Separate linen by type category and accurately and consistently move it into designated sorting bins using conveyor belts.
  • Observe and practice all personal protective practices as required - PPE.
  • Meet and maintain established production standards as required.
  • Mixed Soil Linen Separated into Hopper - 800 pounds per hour
  • Maintain a clean work area before breaks and at the end of the shift.
  • Remove all non-linen items and place them in the designated location.
  • Move soiled linen carts into the cart dumper and empty soiled linen onto a conveyor belt for sorting and separation into the system.
  • Meet and maintain established production standards as required.
  • Soiled Carts emptied- 25 per hour @ two operators
  • Separate non-linen items and trash before placing them on the inclined belt.
  • Keep trash and recyclable plastics separate and put them in the appropriate compactor.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Dry Folding Linen

  • Feed, catch, and or stack linen items needing folding through high-production industrial laundry equipment.
  • Meet and maintain established production standards as required.
  • Bath Towels- 750 per hour
  • Patient Gowns- 300 per hour
  • Blankets - 500 per hour
  • Baby Blankets- 750 per hour
  • Wash clothes - (Stack by Hand) - 1000 per hour
  • Separate miss-sorted linen items before processing them into designated containers.
  • Maintain a clean work area before breaks and at the end of the shift.
  • Remove all non-linen items and place them in a designated location.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Flatwork Linen Processing

  • Feed, catch, or stack linen items needing ironing through high-production industrial laundry equipment.
  • Meet and maintain established production standards as required.
  • Flat Sheets- 300 per hour
  • Contour Sheets - 280 per hour
  • Pillowcases - 700 per hour
  • Scrubs - 300 per hour
  • Separate miss-sorted linen items before processing them into designated containers.
  • Maintain a clean work area before breaks and at the end of the shift.
  • Remove all non-linen items and place them in a designated location.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, and Requirements:

  • High School or equivalent is preferred, but not necessary.
  • Previous laundry experience is a plus, but not required.

  • Constantly able to handle and view blood, body fluids, and fecal matter in soiled linen occasionally.
  • Constantly able to pull or push laundry carts on wheels weighing up to 500 pounds when full of soiled linen.
  • Constantly have shoulder and arm strength to pull and separate bags of soiled linen from the inverted laundry cart onto the table.
  • Open plastic or nylon bags containing soiled linen onto the moving conveyor belt.
  • Constantly have the arm and shoulder strength and range of motion to pull and separate blankets, patient gowns, towels, and other thoroughly dried linen items if they becometangled from a weighted pile repeatedly for the duration of the shift.
  • Constantly have arm and shoulder strength and range of motion to pull and separate sheets if tangled from a damp weighted pile repeatedly for the duration of the shift.
  • Able to withstand shifts in temperature from 40 to 110
