POSITION SUMMARY

The Laborer is a field position that supports construction crews by performing general labor tasks across E-Z Bel jobsites. This role assists with jobsite preparation, cleanup, material handling, traffic control setup, basic hand and power tool use, and support activities for street, concrete, traffic signal, bridge, and general civil construction crews as directed. The Laborer works under close supervision, follows direction from the Foreman, Leadman, and other experienced crew members, and is expected to work safely, reliably, and productively in outdoor construction environments. This role is intended to build foundational construction skills and provide a pathway into more specialized field roles.


YOUR ROLE

  • Assist with general labor tasks, including digging, spreading, leveling, carrying, staging, and moving materials, tools, and supplies.
  • Clean and prepare jobsites, tools, equipment, and work areas to help maintain a safe, organized, and productive work environment.
  • Support skilled crew members with concrete, street, traffic signal, bridge, and general civil construction activities as directed.
  • Use basic hand tools and small power tools under supervision, including shovels, rakes, hammers, brooms, drills, saws, and tampers when trained.
  • Assist with setting up cones, barricades, signs, and other traffic control devices according to crew direction.
  • Signal or spot equipment operators when assigned and trained to support safe equipment movement and material placement.
  • Load, unload, carry, stack, and organize materials such as lumber, forms, rebar, pipe, cones, signs, tools, and jobsite supplies.
  • Assist with basic concrete-related tasks such as spreading material, removing forms, cleaning tools, and supporting pours under supervision.
  • Follow all safety expectations, wear required PPE, maintain awareness around moving equipment and traffic, and report unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Perform other labor-related duties as assigned by the Foreman, Leadman, or Superintendent.


WHAT YOU BRING

  • 0โ€“1 year of construction experience preferred; no prior specialization required.
  • Ability to follow directions, ask questions, and learn basic construction tasks in a field environment.
  • Willingness to perform physically demanding work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, and other jobsite conditions.
  • Basic familiarity with hand tools, small power tools, and construction materials preferred.
  • Strong attendance, reliability, teamwork, and willingness to support the crew wherever needed.
  • Basic understanding of safety practices, including PPE use, traffic awareness, housekeeping, and hazard reporting.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Work is performed outdoors year-round in active construction environments, including exposure to extreme heat, cold, rain, dust, noise, vibration, moving equipment, uneven terrain, and live traffic conditions. Must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, lift, carry, push, pull, and perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods. Must be able to regularly lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift heavier materials with assistance. Must maintain situational awareness and follow all safety requirements while working near equipment, tools, materials, and traffic.
