Position Duties


Temporary roles vary in nature and scope. These roles are short-term and long-term, but are not permenant. Roles are not eligible for the same benefits as regular employees.

Essential Functions

Procurement, preparation and maintenance of materials and equipment to support laboratory instruction.

Work with faculty to arrange for preparation of reagents and gathering and arranging of equipment for all lab courses.

Maintain the cleanliness of prep-lab, instructional labs, and storage areas in collaboration with faculty members and work-study students.

Coordinate efforts of work-study students to assist with preparation of labs and clean-up of teaching and preparatory lab spaces.

Develop and maintain a chemical inventory.

Coordinate the storage and disposal of biological and chemical waste with EHS.

Duties vary throughout these roles.

Non essential: Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.

Instructional and research laboratory prep requires some exposure dry chemicals and solvents commonly used in forensic science. Packages delivered to the department may require lifting 10-50 pounds and some have no physical.
