Job description

Weihe Construction, Inc. is searching skilled laborers with experience installing sanitary, sewer and water lines. As a member of a four-man crew, you will focus on installing one of the three types of pipe. Well qualified candidates will have experience on a pipe crew in the residential construction space. Candidates with heavy equipment maintenance and/or operation will be highly favored. All candidates must have reliable transportation, be available Monday-Saturday, and be willing to work 55 hours per week.
Responsibilities of a Topman include, but may not be limited to:
  1. Cutting pipe to size and beveling as-needed
  2. Greasing pipe and preparing for installation
  3. Rigging up pipe using steel cables, chains, or straps for lowering into the ditch
  4. Using hand-signals to safely communicate with the pipe layer and excavator operator
  5. Retrieving supplies as needed from the job box, company truck and adjacent crews
  6. Setting the pipe laser to the correct grade and logging slope numbers as installation progresses
Physical requirements: The Pipe Layer position is a physically demanding one which requires varying levels of physical fitness to perform essential job duties. This position requires employees to work on their feet on average 10 hours per day. The categories of physical requirements to perform the essential job duties of a pipe layer include lifting, lowering, carrying, pushing, and pulling. Candidates must be able to regularly lift amp; lower on average 0-25lbs, maximum 75lbs. Additionally, candidates must be able to carry on average 0-40lbs, maximum 75lbs for an average distance of 5-40ft, maximum 100ft. Finally, candidates must be able to push amp; pull up and down on average 0-160lbf, maximum 160lbf and bilaterally on average 0-40lbf, maximum 40lbf.
Hours: Monday-Friday 7:00AM-5:00PM, Saturday 7:00AM-12:00PM -- average 55 hrs./week
