Nutrition Assistant Level 2
Position Summary
Under the direction of the Child Nutrition Center Manager, the Nutrition Assistant Level 2 plays a vital role in providing high-quality, appealing, and safe meals to district students and staff. This role serves as the lead on catering operations, works directly in the Child Nutrition Center (CNC), and acts as a float/substitute across various locations within the district's Nutrition Department to ensure smooth daily operations.
Position Details
- Hours: 8 hours per day (6:00 a.m. 2:00 p.m.)
- Training Wage: $17.50 / hour
- Schedule: Follows the school year calendar; regular, dependable, in-person attendance is required. Plus 4-5 training days per school year.
Key Responsibilities
- Food Preparation & Service: Assist with general kitchen duties, including prepping, heating, portioning, and serving nutritious meals to students and staff in a fast-paced environment.
- Catering Leadership: Serve as the lead on catering events, ensuring setup, food presentation, service, and clean-up meet department standards.
- Department Subbing & Support: Sub across various nutrition sites throughout the district as needed, adapting quickly to different kitchen environments.
- Clean-Up & Maintenance: Help maintain food service facilities, kitchens, and dining areas in safe, sanitary conditions following district, health, and HACCP standards.
- Customer Service & Teamwork: Provide exceptional customer service to students, staff, and patrons while fostering a collaborative, supportive team environment.
Qualifications & Physical Requirements
- Technical Experience: Computer experience required (including basic email usage).
- Physical Ability: Must be able to stand/walk for extended periods, bend, stoop, reach, and lift/carry up to 40 lbs.
- Adaptability: Ability to move between buildings and adapt to changing daily job environments across the district.
- Safety & Sanitation: Familiarity with kitchen tools, safe food handling procedures, and standard school food service equipment.
