Job description

Job Title: Field Engineer โ€“ Commercial Construction

Location of Projects: San Antonio & Austin, TX

What Weโ€™re Looking For:

A motivated and hardworking Commercial Construction Field Engineer with at least 1โ€“3 years of experience in a commercial construction environment. The candidate will assist Project Managers and Superintendents with on-site coordination, documentation, and technical support for ground-up and interior improvement projects that typically range in size from $1.5 to $5 million. Project types include restaurants, retail, medical, and other niche builds.

A successful candidate must be detail-oriented, proactive, and willing to learn while supporting project execution in the field. Crucial to this position is the ability to track project documentation, coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers, and support site safety and quality standards. Candidate must be professional, integrity-driven, and motivated to grow within the company and industry.

Overview: What Youโ€™ll Be Doing:

The following is a list of the major responsibilities of the Commercial Construction Field Engineer:

  • Proficient with Procore and familiarity with MS Projects
  • Assist with pre-construction and project closeout processes
  • Track and maintain RFIs, submittals, and change order logs
  • Support project budgeting, cost tracking, and forecasting with guidance from Project Managers
  • Review plans and specifications; flag discrepancies or potential issues for the project team
  • Support Superintendents with scheduling, manpower tracking, and daily logs
  • Assist with safety documentation, compliance, and monitoring on site
  • Track and help coordinate inspections, testing, and municipal approvals
  • Maintain accurate project records, as-builts, and closeout documentation
  • Provide meeting minutes and updates for OAC and subcontractor meetings
  • Help ensure quality and workmanship meet project standards
  • Provide general project administrative and technical support in the field
  • Other duties as assigned or needed to fulfill job requirements

This is a 40+ hour position, salary exempt professional โ€“ Benefits (Health/Dental/401k) are provided for salaried positions.

Qualifications & Requirements:

To be considered for this position you will possess the following skills, attributes, and abilities:

  • Minimum 1โ€“3 yearsโ€™ experience in a Field Engineer or related role within commercial construction
  • College or university degree in a construction-related field preferred
  • Understanding of construction terms, scheduling, and planning
  • Proficient in Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Projects, Excel, etc.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
