General Facility Maintenance Jobs (NOW HIRING)

Snell Motor Companies is seeking a General Facility Maintenance person. 

The Facility Maintenance is responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation, maintenance, and improvement of facilities across the automotive group’s dealerships, service centers, warehouses, and other properties. This role oversees building systems, utilities, equipment, preventative maintenance, facility projects, contractors, and regulatory compliance while supporting a safe and professional environment for employees and customers.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical knowledge with excellent project management, troubleshooting, vendor-management, and communication skills.

 Key Responsibilities

 Facility Operations & Maintenance

• Manage day-to-day facility operations across automotive dealerships, service centers, and related properties.
• Maintain and oversee HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, lighting, compressed air, water systems, building structures, and other facility systems.
• Develop and manage preventive and predictive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
• Troubleshoot facility and building-system issues and coordinate corrective actions.
• Monitor utility consumption and identify opportunities for energy and operating-cost reductions.
• Maintain facility equipment, maintenance records, asset registers, warranties, and service documentation.

 Automotive Service Facility Support

• Support the operation and maintenance of automotive service departments, including lifts, compressors, exhaust systems, shop ventilation, oil/waste systems, and related equipment.
• Ensure service areas and equipment are maintained in a safe, functional, and compliant condition.
• Coordinate maintenance activities to minimize disruption to dealership and service operations.
• Assist with facility planning for new service bays, equipment installations, shop expansions, and renovations.

 Safety, Compliance & Risk Management

• Ensure facilities comply with applicable building, fire, electrical, environmental, OSHA, and local regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate inspections, testing, certifications, and corrective actions.
• Support emergency preparedness, fire/life-safety programs, and facility-related safety initiatives.
• Identify facility risks and develop corrective and preventive action plans.
• Maintain appropriate records for inspections, permits, maintenance, and compliance activities.

 Vendor & Contractor Management

• Manage relationships with facility maintenance contractors, service providers, utilities, and equipment vendors.
• Obtain and evaluate quotes and proposals for maintenance and capital work.
• Monitor contractor performance, workmanship, safety, and adherence to schedules.
• Negotiate service agreements and support procurement activities.
• Verify completed work and invoices against contracted scope.

Sustainability & Energy Management

• Monitor electricity, natural gas, water, and other utility consumption.
• Identify energy-efficiency opportunities involving HVAC, lighting, controls, building envelope, and equipment.
• Support sustainability and environmental initiatives across the automotive group.
• Evaluate opportunities for automation, building controls, and smart-facility technologies.

 Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Facilities Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
• 3–7+ years of experience in facilities engineering, building operations, maintenance, construction, or a related environment.
• Experience supporting automotive dealerships, service centers, manufacturing facilities, commercial buildings, or multi-site facilities is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, fire/life-safety, and building systems.
• Experience managing contractors, vendors, maintenance programs, and facility projects.
• Strong understanding of OSHA, building codes, fire codes, and applicable environmental requirements.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural, mechanical, electrical, and construction drawings.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, project-management, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with CMMS, CAFM, BMS, AutoCAD, or similar facility-management systems is a plus.
• Ability to travel between automotive group locations as required.

 Preferred Skills

• Facilities management certification such as CFM, FMP, or equivalent.
• Professional engineering license or engineering-in-training designation.
• Project management certification such as PMP.
• Experience with multi-site facility operations.
• Experience with dealership/service-shop equipment and automotive facility requirements.
• Knowledge of energy-management systems and building automation.
• Strong vendor negotiation and contract-management skills.

 Work Environment

This position requires a combination of outside, office, dealership, service-shop, and warehouse work. The Facility Engineer may occasionally work outside normal business hours to respond to facility emergencies, planned shutdowns, or critical maintenance activities.

Travel between multiple automotive group locations may be required.
