Job description

Meta is seeking a strategic and execution-oriented leader to build, scale, and lead a new AI Partnerships group within Business Development (BD). As Director, BD - AI Partnerships, you will own the global partnership strategy for an emerging ecosystem platform, driving partner growth, and third-party integrations that accelerate Meta AI adoption across all surfaces. You will lead a team of BD professionals, set the vision for this external partnership ecosystem, and personally drive the most complex and highest-value partner engagements. This role requires deep fluency in AI/Gen AI platforms, developer ecosystems, as well as the ability to operate with high autonomy in a fast-moving, highly ambiguous environment.
Responsibilities
Define and execute the global partnership strategy, focused on scaling Meta AI distribution through developer partnerships and third-party ecosystem growth
• Identify, evaluate, and close strategic partnerships across the AI developer ecosystem - including tool providers, API integrations, and platform services that expand the product's capabilities
• Develop deep understanding of the product details to guide the Product and BD teams to areas where we can jointly create cutting-edge user experiences
• Own the end-to-end deal lifecycle from partner identification and contract negotiation through product launch, ongoing relationship management, and performance optimization
• Serve as the primary external senior representative for Partnerships, building and maintaining executive-level relationships with developers and other ecosystem participants
• Work closely with Product, Engineering, and Gen AI teams to translate partner requirements into product roadmaps and ensure technical alignment on integrations
• Collaborate with Enterprise GTM, AI Partnerships, and other BD functions to ensure that the strategy is aligned with Meta's broader AI distribution and go-to-market plans
• Establish clear metrics, dashboards, and reporting to track the health, growth, and ROI of the partner ecosystem
• Represent BD in senior leadership forums, providing regular updates on the pipeline, partner health, competitive dynamics, and strategic opportunities
• Build, lead, and scale a high-performing team of BD professionals focused on partnerships, fostering a culture of execution, accountability, and partnership excellence
• Develop the team's capabilities in deal execution, developer ecosystem development, and partnership management
• Drive continuous improvement in deal processes, partner onboarding, and cross-functional workflows
Minimum Qualifications
• 15+ years of experience in business development, strategic partnerships, or related fields within the technology sector, with at least 5 years focused on platform or developer ecosystem partnerships
• 8+ years of direct people management experience, with demonstrated ability to build and scale high-performing BD teams
• Proven track record of negotiating and closing complex, multi-stakeholder technology partnerships or distribution deals with large enterprise partners and developers
• Experience working closely with product and engineering teams in a highly technical environment (AI/ML, developer platforms, or consumer technology)
• Experience leading cross-functional deal execution across legal, finance, product, engineering, and executive stakeholders
• Executive-level communication and presentation skills, with the ability to represent Meta externally at the most senior levels of partner organizations
• Experience interpreting and negotiating commercial agreements, including licensing, distribution, and co-development terms
Preferred Qualifications
• Demonstrated interest in AI, emerging technologies, and the future of human-computer interaction (e.g., through projects, publications, or community involvement)
• Background in scaling partnership programs
• Experience operating in a fast-paced, internal-startup-like environment with high ambiguity and rapidly evolving priorities
• MBA or an advanced degree in a relevant business or technical field
• Direct experience in AI/Gen AI products, platforms, or developer ecosystems (e.g., LLMs, AI agents, developer tools)
