Job description

The Production Supervisor will plan, schedule, implement, and monitor production activities for their department, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and quantity standards. Ensures production specifications, quality standards, and deadlines are met.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Achieve the daily, weekly, monthly and yearly operational objectives through planning, directing, controlling, implementing, evaluating, monitoring and forecasting as needed.
  2. Coordinate needed support through interdepartmental interface for smooth workflow, cycle time reduction and cost-efficient production.
  3. Direct and coordinate the activities of employees engaged in the production or processing of goods, such as inspectors, machine setters, or fabricators
  4. Establish departmental quality initiatives to reduce scrap and rework. Develop visible measurements to support those goals.

  6. Inspect materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions.
  7. Project a positive and professional image to peers, subordinates and customers.
  8. Maintain the highest standards which represent the position and authority of a Collis Supervisor.
  9. Maintain excellent housekeeping and overall appearance of the Production Department.
  10. Help to establish, prepare, implement, revise and maintain policies, procedures and job descriptions related to the Production Department.
  11. Read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules, and other records and reports to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs.
  12. Observe work and monitor gauges, dials, and other indicators to ensure that operators conform to production or processing standards.
  13. Identify needed labor and ensure labor variances within the Production Department remain favorable. This includes elimination of non-essential overtime.

Position Supervised or Directed:

Reports to plant manager.

Qualifications, Experience requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • 2 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Manufacturing experience is preferred.
  • Leadership experience is preferred.
  • First responder training is preferred, but no required.

General requirements:

  • Availability to go to the division from Monday to Friday
  • Detailed and hands-on oriented

Working Conditions:

  • Prolonged periods working on feet, standing, and walking throughout the work are on a continuous basis, using tools, and performing repetitive actions.
  • Constantly positions self to maintain production, including frequent reaching, bending, and stooping.
  • Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines, and inspect parts produced.
  • Must be able to lift up to fifty (50) pounds at a time.
  • Ability to communicate with team members.
  • Work environment temperatures vary and may include extreme heat or cold based on outside temperatures.
