Human Resources Manager

Gemtron Corporation | Vincennes, Indiana

We are seeking an on-site Human Resources Manager to lead the HR function at our Vincennes, Indiana manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of human resources, including employee relations, talent acquisition, performance management, compensation and benefits administration, compliance, payroll oversight, and workforce development. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on HR professional who can effectively partner with plant leadership and employees to support business objectives and promote a positive workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the daily operations of the Human Resources department.
  • Recruit, interview, hire, onboard, and train new employees.
  • Partner with plant leadership to develop and execute workforce planning, talent acquisition, retention, and succession strategies.
  • Provide guidance and support to managers regarding employee relations, performance management, investigations, corrective actions, and policy interpretation.
  • Administer employee discipline and terminations in accordance with company policy and applicable employment laws.
  • Support employee engagement initiatives and help foster a positive and productive work environment.
  • Manage the talent acquisition process for hourly and salaried positions, ensuring timely hiring of qualified candidates.
  • Collaborate with department managers to identify staffing needs and required competencies.
  • Analyze compensation and benefits trends and recommend competitive programs that attract and retain talent.
  • Develop and implement employee training, leadership development, and career growth initiatives.
  • Oversee employee investigations, disciplinary meetings, and conflict resolution processes.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Maintain current knowledge of employment law, HR best practices, regulatory changes, and workforce trends.
  • Oversee the payroll process to ensure accurate and timely payroll administration.
  • Maintain compliance with all payroll-related regulations, including wage and hour laws and tax requirements.
  • Develop and improve HR and payroll policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Partner closely with Finance and Operations to resolve payroll and workforce-related issues.
  • Conduct periodic audits of payroll, personnel records, and HR processes to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to management and employees on all HR-related matters.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Leadership Responsibility
  • Directly responsible for leading and managing the Human Resources function for the facility.
  • This is an HR Department of one. (Division headcount about 95)
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive Human Resources experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in employee relations, talent acquisition, compliance, payroll administration, and performance management.
  • Experience supporting a unionized workforce is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of labor relations and collective bargaining agreements is a plus.
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
  • ADP experience is a huge plus.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

  • Must be able to work on-site Monday through Friday.
Working Conditions
  • Combination of office and manufacturing plant environment.
  • Frequently works indoors.
  • Regular interaction with production employees and plant leadership.
  • Occasionally exposed to manufacturing noise, temperature variations, and production environments.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required when entering production areas.
