Job description

ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking an Electrical Designer to join our team supporting the DOE's Y-12 National Security Complex! This position is full-time and will be based out of Oak Ridge, Tennessee with hybrid flexibility.
Responsibilities
  • Draft in Bentley MicroStation: One-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, lighting/power plans, installation details, Instrumentation and Controls Diagrams, conduit/cable schedules, fire alarm and communication drawings.
  • Experience with low and medium voltage power distribution and industrial control systems.
  • Experience with NFPA 70, NFPA 79, and UL508A.
  • Prepare data sheets, specifications, and walkdown reports.
  • Work with an electrical engineers and other CAD drafters from the same work group.
  • Must be able to support construction and operational activities related to design outputs. Field walkdowns will be required sometimes in radiological contaminated areas.
  • The ability to obtain a Q-clearance will be required.

Requirements
  • Education & Years of Experience - Associate's Degree in a technical field and 6+ years of relevant experience or High School Diploma and 13+ years of relevant experience.
  • Citizenship - To be considered, you must be a United States (U.S.) citizen due to the federal nature of the work.
  • Clearance - To be considered, you MUST be able to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance, if needed.
  • Must have experience with low and medium voltage power distribution and industrial control systems.
  • Must have experience with NFPA 70, NFPA 79, and UL508A.
  • Must have experience drafting in Bentley MicroStation: One-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, lighting/power plans, installation details, Instrumentation and Controls Diagrams, conduit/cable schedules, fire alarm and communication drawings.

The NNSA's Y-12 National Security Complex, in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, is the nation's only source of enriched uranium nuclear weapon components and provides enriched uranium for the U.S. Navy as well as excels in materials science, precision manufacturing, and stores enriched uranium. Y-12 supports efforts to reduce nuclear proliferation risk and performs work for other government agencies (energy.gov).
