What We Look For In a GED Math Tutor
- Advanced Test Mastery: Deep knowledge of GED Mathematical Reasoning content including basic arithmetic, fractions, decimals, percentages, algebra, geometry, data analysis, and quantitative problem solving using the TI-30XS calculator. Guides students through solving multi-step equations, applying the Pythagorean theorem, computing measures of central tendency, and using proportional reasoning. Emphasizes building mathematical confidence and systematic problem-solving approaches for non-traditional learners.
- Curriculum Awareness & Adaptive Instruction: Familiar with GED Mathematical Reasoning content standards and common challenges such as fraction operations, setting up algebraic equations from word problems, and interpreting coordinate plane graphs. Adapts instruction using diagnostic pretests, scaffolded skill progressions, and official GED practice materials to support adult learners rebuilding foundational math skills for credential completion.
- Effective Teaching Methods: Ability to identify concepts students commonly struggle with, explain material using multiple approaches, and adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs and styles.
