Job Summary
Installs,maintains, and repairs electrical systems, facilities, and related electroniccontrols. Reads utility meters (electric, water, gas) as required. Worksathletic and other events as assigned, which often occur after normal workinghours and on weekends. This position isconsidered "essential personnel" and may require unusual attendance responsibilities,such as storm duty.Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Installs, maintains, and repairs lighting equipment & electrical equipment (e.g. wires, conduits, switches, outlets, junction boxes).
  2. Ability to assist with Testing and troubleshoot transformers, motors, generators.
  3. Completes assigned work orders in a timely and efficient fashion while maintaining a friendly and professional demeanor with all customers.
  4. Performs accurate reading of all utility meters on campus.
  5. Performs additional duties as assigned.

Minimum QualificationsHigh schooldiploma, or general education degree (GED), and four (4) years relatedelectrical experience and/or training. Must have a Mississippi drivers license.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to quickly diagnosis and repair electrical systems in the event of an emergency
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions.
  • Skill in the use of standard office equipment and software.
  • Skill in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Skill in using mathematics to solve problems.
  • Knowledge of the repair, maintenance, and operation of buildings and/or electrical systems.
  • Ability to perform maintenance, to follow instructions, and to interpret drawings and diagrams.

Preferred QualificationsSeven (7)years related experience as a certified journeyman electrician. Trade school electrical training certification coursecompletion. High voltage experience desired.
