Job Description:

Microchip has an opportunity at our Fab 4 facility in Gresham, Oregon for a Senior Instrumentation and Controls Technician in the Facilities Site Services department. The ideal candidate will have an overall general knowledge of facilities plant operations and maintenance. This opening is onthe compressedfront dayshift (Sun, Mon, Tue and every other Wed, 6:00 AM - 6:15 PM).

Essential Functions:

  • Ensures operation of facilities controls systems, buildings and equipment within cleanroom quality parameters and environmental discharge permit limitations.

  • Performpreventative maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting and repair of instrumentation and control systems.

  • Respond to site life safety and control system alarms.

  • Provide support with instrumentation configuration and programming, and maintain associated written documents and reports.

  • Provide timely response and follow-up to all correspondence, maintaining open lines of communication with team members, engineering and management.

  • Provide suggestions for improvement to operations and maintenance activities to enhance system performance, consistency, efficiency and cost effectiveness.

  • Assist supervisors in identifying training requirements and safety procedures in assigned areas.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned, assisting other trades as required.

Requirements/Qualifications:

Required Skills

  • Team player. Ability to work with shift members customers to identify and solve controls related issues.

  • Knowledge of electronic, pneumatic, and computer automation control systems.

  • Process control loop calibration and troubleshooting skills.

  • Knowledge of pH, resistivity, conductivity, flow, temperature, humidity, pressure and level transmitters.

  • Familiarity with GE Fanuc 90/30, Allen Bradley SLC500 and Series 5 PLC's and GE Cimplicity HMI a plus.

  • Ability to work on projects with little or no direction, identifying what needs to be done and executing work in a timely fashion.

  • Ability to learn and apply new technical and operational site systems.

  • Must work well with others and cover shifts as needed.

  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.

Required Qualifications

  • 2 year technical degree or equivalent experience.

  • 4+ years of experience with industrial facility operation and maintenance.

  • Solidknowledge of plant systems and cleanroom operations.

  • Computer knowledge including Microsoft Office, preventative maintenance software and automated building control systems.

Special Requirements

  • Participation as an active member of the Fab 4 ERT (Emergency Response Team).

  • Ability to meet the requirements of the ERT physical.

  • Must pass a physical, fit test and medical clearance for the usage of a tight-fitting respirator (SCBA full face mask level)

  • Must maintain physical requirements for wearing SCBA full face mask level

  • Must be able and willing to travel for training purposes.

Critical Physical Requirements:

  • Able to lift, push, pull approx. 50 lbs; carry 50 lbs; sit 5%; stand 60%; walk 35%; must be able to perform activities that include climbing, bending at waist, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, crawling, handling, feeling, hearing, talking, seeing. Work environment couldinclude slippery surfaces, noise or vibrations, mechanical hazards, electrical hazards, fumes or odors, dust or gases.

  • Must have manual dexterity, hearing and visual acuity (color distinction,peripheralvision and depth perception).
