Job description

Universal Stainless & Alloy Products, Inc., established in 1994, is headquartered in Bridgeville, PA, with plants in North Jackson, OH, Dunkirk, NY, and Titusville, PA. Universal Stainless produces semi-finished and finished specialty steel long products and plate including stainless steel, tool steel, bearing steel, gear steel, and aircraft quality low alloy steels for use in a variety of industries, some you may know: Boeing, Ford, Chrysler, CAT, Toshiba, and GE Energy to name a few. Primary function

Maintain and repair mechanical and hydraulic equipment in assigned areas throughout facility

Reports to:
Maintenance Supervisor but works independently with minimal supervision

Basic Responsibilities

  • Perform miscellaneous repair work, including but not limited to installing pumps, boiler repairs, pipe fitting, etc.
  • Inspects, repairs and maintains facility equipment, including but not limited to rolling mill equipment, furnace mechanical equipment, mechanical shears, annealing equipment
  • Assemble, dismantle and adjust mechanical and hydraulic equipment, including but not limited to conveyors, mill stands, mill housings, etc.
  • Perform welding, cutting and burning when needed
  • Interprets blueprints and technical sketches
  • Operate overhead crane and/or fork truck to move supplies and equipment
  • Maintains a safe and clean working area
  • Other duties assigned

Tools and Equipment

Drill press, power saw, portable drill and grinders, bench tools, cutting torch, welding and burning equipment, overhead pendant crane, chain clocks and falls, air hoists, pipe wrenches, crow bars, sledges, eye bolts, hammers, pressure and flow gauges, cold chisels, punches, gauges, grab hooks, hydraulic fitting die press, and miscellaneous hand tools.

Requirements:

  • Mechanical Ability
  • Analytical Ability
  • Basic Welding Skills
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics
  • Knowledge of mechanical workings in steel-related
  • Experience working in an industrial environment preferred
  • Ability to work in a safe environment

Experience/Education

High school education or GED equivalent

Training:

  • Ability to be trained in all areas of mechanical testing and repairs
  • Ability to successfully pass the Ramsey Mechanical Aptitude test RR110 and Ramsey Mech Test RR16-A (or equivalent)
  • Successfully pass the applicable Rosedale Technical College Test Stand.
  • Incumbent must be able to walk management through schematics
