Job description

Minimum Requirements: 
NYS Teaching Certification in Music
Desired Qualifications: 
Knowledge of and experience in string pedagogy and directing orchestra. Alignment with District Core Values and ability to support our Mission: The Greece Central School District's core purpose is to build a culture of high standards, engagement and supportive relationships through equitable access to resources, opportunities, and partnerships, so that students are able to achieve social, emotional, and academic excellence. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. A commitment to professional development and continuous learning. A passion for music and for inspiring students to love learning. Knowledge of NYS Learning Standards for the Arts. Knowledge of string instruments and pedagogy is preferred but not required for all positions.
Position Summary/Responsibilities: 
Direct 4th and 5th grade string orchestra
Teach lessons on all string instruments
Teach general music classes


















Design and deliver engaging, student-centered instruction that adheres to GCSD arts curriculum and NYS standards using a variety of teaching methods to meet the diverse learning needs and styles of students.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment where all students feel supported and challenged.
- Assess and monitor student progress, providing timely feedback and evidence based interventions as appropriate.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, administrators, and colleagues regarding student progress and potential areas for improvement.
- Stay current with best practices in music education and professional development opportunities.
- Potentially teach in a variety of areas which could include a combination of band, vocal/general music, and strings
- Participate in evening concerts and district, county, and state-wide music festivals as applicable to the position.
- All teachers who are new to Greece will be required to attend two teacher induction days in August.
- Additionally, all Teachers will be required to to work 1 Teacher day in the Month of August as per the school calendar.
