Gc Project Manager information

What is a GC project manager?

A GC Project Manager, or General Contractor Project Manager, oversees construction projects from start to finish on behalf of the general contractor. They are responsible for planning, coordinating, budgeting, and supervising construction processes to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. Their duties include managing subcontractors, communicating with clients, ensuring compliance with safety and building regulations, and resolving any issues that arise during the project. GC Project Managers play a critical role in the successful delivery of construction projects.

What are some common challenges GC project managers face when coordinating with multiple subcontractors on a construction project?

GC Project Managers often encounter challenges such as scheduling conflicts, communication gaps, and differing work standards when working with multiple subcontractors. Ensuring that all parties are aligned with project timelines, safety protocols, and quality expectations requires proactive communication and strong organizational skills. Regular coordination meetings and clear documentation are essential to manage expectations and resolve issues quickly, helping to keep the project on track and within budget.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a GC project manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a GC Project Manager, you need strong project management skills, construction knowledge, and typically a bachelor's degree in construction management or a related field. Familiarity with project management software (like Procore or MS Project), scheduling tools, and safety certifications such as OSHA are commonly required. Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities help you effectively coordinate teams and manage client relationships. These skills ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

What is the difference between Gc Project Manager vs Construction Project Coordinator?

*CANDIDATES MUST HAVE PROJECT MANAGER EXPERIENCE WITH A COMMERCIAL GC

**THE BURT GROUP DOES NOT SPONSOR APPLICANTS FOR WORK VISAS

We build fast, we build right, and we take care of our people! The Burt Group is looking for an experienced Project Manager to join a high-performing team where youโ€™ll have ownership over your projects and a clear path to grow into senior leadership.

This isnโ€™t a role where you wait for direction. Youโ€™ll manage client relationships, drive schedules, control budgets, and lead your project team from kickoff to closeout with the full support of a collaborative, entrepreneurial organization behind you.

What youโ€™ll be doing

Youโ€™ll own all aspects of your assigned projects: client relationships, subcontractor management, scheduling, billing, change orders, and comprehensive closeout. Youโ€™ll be the trusted point of contact for clients and a driving force on site alongside your superintendent. Weekly OAC meetings, daily cost tracking, and proactive problem solving are part of the rhythm.

What weโ€™re looking for
  • 3โ€“5 years of PM experience on commercial GC projects of $5M+
  • Background in healthcare, commercial, or retail renovation with occupied buildings experience a plus
  • Strong communicator who builds lasting relationships with clients, architects, and subs
  • Proficiency in Procore, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Project, and Sage 100
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Construction Science or related field, or equivalent experience
Why The Burt Group
  • Mentorship and learning directly from experienced senior leaders and builders
  • Great energy - the kind of place where people genuinely enjoy showing up
  • A one-team culture that is collaborative, not political
  • We show up for our clients and we show up for each other, that is how we operate

If you are ready to grow your career with a team that invests in you, we would love to hear from you.
