Security Guard: Part-Time/On Call
Awaken Christian Academy is looking for a Security Guard to join our team!
The position requires a commitment to a flexilble schedule based on the events of the organization.
JOB POSITION SUMMARY
Awaken Christian Academy is committed to being a Christ-centered, biblically based community serving the students and families entrusted to us. The Security Guard plays a critical role in the safety and protection of our students, staff, and guests. You will help maintain a secure, welcoming, and peaceful environment across our campus. We are seeking someone who is alert, dependable, and calm under pressure, with a strong sense of integrity and a heart for ministry. The individual holding this position models Christian beliefs, thoughts, and actions on and off the job. As a Security Guard, you will have the opportunity to:
  • Be a visible, reassuring presence during school days and events.
  • Monitor buildings and grounds to ensure a secure environment.
  • Respond to emergencies and support incident resolution with professionalism and discretion.
  • Build rapport with staff, volunteers, students, parents, and visitors.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Patrol assigned interior and exterior areas of the campus during assigned shifts.
  • Monitor entrances, exits, and high-traffic areas to ensure proper access and prevent unauthorized entry.
  • Maintain communication with school leadership, administrative staff, and fellow security personnel.
  • Respond quickly and appropriately to disturbances, suspicious activity, or emergencies.
  • Assist with crowd control during events and school activities.
  • Lock and unlock buildings and gates as scheduled.
  • Submit incident reports and safety updates to the Security Director.
  • Be familiar with and help enforce the safety policies and procedures of Awaken.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience
  • 3+ years of experience in security, law enforcement, military, or a related field preferred.
  • Prior experience working in a church, school, or public setting is a plus.
  • Ability to remain calm, observant, and decisive under pressure.
  • Familiarity with conflict de-escalation and emergency protocols.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Active or previous guard card preferred or willingness to obtain
  • Active CCW Permit preferred or willingness to obtain
