To thrive as a Gas Station Attendant, you need basic math skills, customer service experience, and often a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems, fuel pump operation, and sometimes safety certifications are important technical requirements. Employees at gas stations often encounter challenges such as managing high customer volumes during peak hours, handling cash transactions securely, and maintaining safety protocols when working around fuel and other hazardous materials. Many gas stations provide training to handle these situations, and building good rapport with coworkers and supervisors can make day-to-day operations smoother and safer.
