This role focuses on leading intermediate pressure gas distribution system capital projects that enhance system integrity and reliability. The Gas System Project Manager oversees the full project lifecycle, from initiation through execution, ensuring projects meet scope, cost, schedule, and quality targets. The position involves managing a portfolio of moderate-risk projects, coordinating with multiple agencies and stakeholders, and driving improvements in gas system performance and safety.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the full lifecycle of gas distribution system capital projects, from initiation through execution, ensuring delivery within defined scope, cost, schedule, and quality targets.
  • Lead project planning activities by defining project objectives, timelines, methods, and resource allocation for intermediate pressure gas distribution projects.
  • Drive project plans and milestones, monitoring progress and adjusting plans as needed to keep projects on track.
  • Oversee scope, schedule, and budget for individual projects or portfolios of moderate risk and financial impact.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with multiple agencies, private partners, and stakeholders to ensure alignment and smooth project execution.
  • Initiate projects by securing stakeholder alignment and clarifying roles, responsibilities, and expectations across cross-functional teams.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to deliver project outcomes, providing direction, guidance, and support throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Develop statements of work (SOW), bid documents, and cost estimates to support procurement and contracting activities.

  • Implement effective communication plans to keep stakeholders informed of project status, risks, and changes.
  • Lead change management efforts to address scope changes, schedule adjustments, and budget impacts, ensuring proper approvals and documentation.
  • Identify project risks and issues, develop mitigation strategies, and resolve problems promptly to minimize impact on project outcomes.
  • Utilize strong leadership, negotiation, and problem-solving skills to build consensus and drive decisions that support project goals.
  • Ensure that all project activities comply with relevant standards, procedures, and best practices for natural gas system utility infrastructure.
Essential Skills
  • 6–8+ years of project management experience.
  • Proven experience managing the full project lifecycle, from initiation to execution, including scope, cost, schedule, quality, and stakeholder management.
  • Experience in natural gas system utility infrastructure project management.
  • Hands-on experience with older vintage PE pipe replacement, older wrapped steel pipe replacement, shallow main pipe replacement, gas main reinforcement, cathodic protection improvements, and distribution integrity management projects.
  • Experience developing statements of work (SOW), bid documents, and cost estimates.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical and project information clearly to diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership skills, with experience leading cross-functional teams and driving project delivery.
  • Strong negotiation skills to manage expectations, contracts, and stakeholder agreements.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $75.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
